German youth explore Yunnan culture at Chinese Bridge summer camp

Forty-five young Germans recently visited Yunnan province as part of the Chinese Bridge summer camp to explore its cultural diversity and strengthen the bonds of friendship between China and Germany.

This initiative aims to foster a cultural connection between Chinese and German youth through the universal language of music. The trip brought them through Kunming and Pu'er in Yunnan before culminating in a visit to Beijing.

Lynn Muschack, member of the Burg Chinese Chorus, expressed excitement about visiting China for the first time. "It's really cool to see all of the different ethnic groups," she said.

What struck her most about Yunnan was its abundance of coffee and tea. In Pu'er, she observed the coffee-making process and got the opportunity to try her hand at it. She also picked tea leaves.

Alessa Bauer, a German student, shared her experience of dancing with the locals, saying, "The atmosphere was fantastic, you could really feel the culture through it."

She also visited a local flower market in Kunming. "The kids came up to us, hugging us and giving us flowers. It's truly a lovely place."

"Through the activities we have arranged in Kunming and Pu'er, we aim to give these German students a deeper insight into Chinese culture, especially Yunnan's ethnic minority culture," said Zhang Yungang, director of the chorus.
