Niuheliang neolithic site, Chaoyang, Liaoning

Located in Chaoyang, Liaoning province, the Niuheliang site is one of the most important archaeological sites of the late Neolithic Hongshan culture and offers a remarkable glimpse into the early development of Chinese civilization. More than 5,800 years ago, this mountain landscape was home to a grand ceremonial complex of altars, a goddess temple, and stone-built tombs, reflecting a highly organized ritual tradition.
