A national arts gala celebrating emerging grassroots creators and China's fast-growing micro short drama industry will be held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, from Aug 5 to 7, organizers announced at a news conference in Beijing on Thursday.
The event, themed "Stars of the Times, Walking with Beauty", will feature a series of activities promoting new forms of popular literature and art. The program includes micro short drama showcases, rap performances, photography exhibitions, cultural markets and other supporting events.
Hu Yifeng, director of the Network and Communication Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, said the theme "Stars of the Times" highlights the growing role of ordinary people in cultural creation, particularly grassroots artists and enthusiasts from emerging creative communities.
"Their creativity and vibrant everyday lives come together like countless stars, forming the cultural galaxy of our era," Hu said.
He said the second part of the theme, "Walking with Beauty", encourages people across society to participate in innovation and artistic creation, allowing the public to experience the beauty of culture through active engagement.
Organizers also announced several open calls for submissions across different artistic categories. The initiatives will include work collection, professional judging, live performances, industry forums and promotional activities.
The organizers said the program aims to leverage the organizational and professional strengths of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, foster exchanges between established artists and emerging creators, and promote the healthy development of new forms of popular literature and art.
