On June 18, during the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair, the Signing and Communication Meeting for the "Going Global" Publishing Program, supported by the Taofen Foundation, was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.

The event, themed "Mutual Learning of Civilizations, Books Carry Far-reaching Wisdom", brought together over 100 industry experts, publishing professionals and representatives from universities and research institutions to explore new pathways for the international dissemination of Chinese culture.

Organized by the Taofen Foundation's Special Fund for the "Going Global" of Outstanding Chinese Culture, the event featured several key speakers. Wu Shulin, chairman of the China Publishing Association, stressed the importance of a content-first approach, adherence to international standards, the development of a professional talent team, and the promotion of stable development in the international publishing industry.

Liu Bogen, chairman of the Taofen Foundation, expressed hope that the Special Fund would continue to focus on four key areas: global outreach for monographs, incubation of new journals, topic-driven empowerment through special issues, and column-first approaches for brand building. The goal is to create a synergy of international development that is open, shared, and complementary, he said.

The signing of cooperation agreements between the Taofen Foundation and eight organizations, including Chinese Social Sciences Today, the Journal of Nanchang University (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition), the Chinese Journal of School Health, Hunan Science and Technology Press, Liaoning Science and Technology Publishing House, and the Medical Review (English Edition) by Peking University, was a key highlight of the event.

Since its inception, the fund has successfully facilitated the overseas publication of high-quality projects, including The Complete Works of Yuan Longping and other important social science journals.

The English edition project of The Complete Works of Yuan Longping, in collaboration with Hunan Science and Technology Press, aims to present Yuan Longping's pioneering contributions to hybrid rice research to overseas readers. It highlights China's agricultural science and technology innovations and their role in ensuring global food security.

Comprising 12 volumes, the collection comprehensively gathers Yuan's academic works, research papers and previously published manuscripts, including his teaching plans, letters and research diaries from the early 1960s to his death in May 2021. In March 2026, the book won the 6th China Publishing Government Award.

Hu Yanhong, editor-in-chief of Hunan Science and Technology Press, described the collection as not only a monumental scientific work but also a testament to the spirit of Chinese scientists and China's solution to global hunger. The English edition enables this work, which embodies Chinese wisdom and benefits humanity, to enter the international academic community and public reading domain through a high-quality translation.
