Since its inception in China in 2010, the prize has attracted tens of thousands of submissions. The eighth edition notably introduced the Contemporary Ink Award, which received nearly 600 entries, highlighting the growing innovation within this traditional medium.
The ninth prize will be judged by a panel of five international artists who will employ a strict anonymous review process to ensure fairness and impartiality. The competition is open to all regardless of age or professional background.
Artists are invited to submit their works from now on until the deadline on Sept 22. Following a rigorous two-round selection process, the six winning artworks and all finalist pieces will be showcased at the Jiushi Art Museum and partner venues in the spring of 2027.
