Venice cut, Cannes next take

For many Chinese actors, the road to Europe's most prestigious film festivals is long, uncertain, and often out of reach. Xin Zhilei, however, is already well on her way.

A Best Actress win at last year's Venice Film Festival for The Sun Rises on Us All, following an earlier appearance in Crosscurrent, selected for the main competition at the Berlin International Film Festival, has helped her establish a growing international presence.

Only one destination now remains: Cannes.
