The Chinese New Year in Shanghai was marked by the elegance of horses and the marvels of science, as the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum became a popular destination for locals and tourists.

Jointly organized by the museum in Shanghai and the Palace Museum, Galloping Wonders — Year of the Horse Science and Culture Special Exhibition opened on Feb 17, the first day of the Chinese New Year, marking the first pop-up exhibition since the Shanghai museum's renovation and reopening.

Themed around horses, the exhibition explores natural evolution, human-horse coexistence, and future inspirations, offering a multidimensional showcase that blends cultural relics, biological specimens and digital interactions, adding a unique scientific and cultural flair to the traditional Spring Festival festivities.

"As the first pop-up exhibition since the museum's renovation, this event weaves together science and humanity," says Ni Minjing, director of the museum.

The exhibition goes beyond merely displaying horses, tracing their natural evolution and reflecting the history of humans and horses forging a splendid civilization. It also anticipates the future impacts of science and technology on both horses and humans.
