A water tank on the wall, brightly painted napkins, an open book — these seemingly normal objects are in fact artworks that have been blended into the rooms of an old house in Singapore's Tiong Bahru area.

It is the fifth and latest edition of "Zhai Sheng Ji", an art project and exhibition series curated by Shanghai artist Pang Hailong.

Previously appearing in a number of other cities, the project engages the audience in an intimate environment like the room of a house, where art becomes part of the decoration.

The current installment in Singapore is running until Jan 31 and has brought together both Chinese and Singaporean artists.

The experience is similar to a game in which people have to distinguish the artworks from the real household items. The installation invites visitors to reflect on the relationship between individual experiences and collective memories, inspiring new perspectives on a space and a city with which they are familiar.
