Chopard melts hearts and warms cultural ties in Harbin

Luxury Swiss jewelry and timepiece brand Chopard unveiled an ice installation at the Harbin Ice and Snow World in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province on December 17. Inspired by the Maison's iconic Ice Cube collection and the Happy Clown – the first jewel designed by Caroline Scheufele, Chopard's co-president and artistic director — the installation brings modern vitality, creativity, and "joie de vivre" to Harbin, the celebrated City of Ice. Pansy Ho, vice chairman and secretary-general of the World Tourism Economy Forum, joined Scheufele at the unveiling ceremony.

Long admired for its majestic winter landscapes and distinct cultural heritage, Harbin provides a fitting stage for Chopard's artistic expression. Nature and art have always been central sources of inspiration for the Maison, whose craftsmanship translates the beauty of the world into enduring creations. Through its ice installation, Chopard deepens its cultural connection with China, harmonizing jewelry aesthetics with the unique rhythm of Harbin's winter wonderland.

Visitors entering the snow-covered scene are greeted by a monumental ice sculpture echoing the geometry of Chopard's Ice Cube collection bracelet. Transparent ice bricks, arranged in precise architectural layers, reinterpret the collection's signature motif through an ever-shifting play of light. Beside it rests a smaller sculpture inspired by the Ice Cube ring, its crystalline facets glistening within the frosted scenery.

Standing at the entrance of the installation is Chopard's emblematic Happy Clown – the Maison's very first jewelry creation designed by Scheufele and a lasting symbol of boundless imagination. Reimagined in ice, it radiates the joie de vivre that has defined Chopard for decades. Inside the structure, a second clown piece welcomes visitors, its chest shaped into a delicate heart silhouette.

On December 16, during the Global Tourism Economy Forum Heilongjiang 2025, Harbin received the United Nations Tourism Organization's “Leadership and Excellence in the Development of Ice and Snow Tourism” award. Scheufele participated as an invited speaker, marking another significant moment in cultural dialogue between Chopard and Harbin.

Continuing this celebration of winter inspiration, Chopard will soon unveil a limited-edition Happy Sport timepiece dedicated to Harbin's ice and snow culture.
