Healing power
Light of Wisdom, an exhibition on traditional Chinese medicine culture, has opened at the National Museum of China Hall at Xinjiang Museum, Urumqi. It reproduces an earlier namesake exhibition first held at the National Museum of China in Beijing years ago, showcasing hundreds of artifacts — archaic bronzes, ceramics, manuscripts, drawings, and other crafts and documents — that bring to life the long trajectory of TCM.
The exhibition explores how people historically sustained physical and mental wellbeing, adjusting daily habits in accordance with seasonal rhythms to maintain harmony with nature and the cosmos. The two museums collaborated to establish the National Museum of China Hall in 2023, to tour curated exhibitions and showcase collections drawn from museums around the country to enrich the cultural life of people in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
The TCM exhibition runs until March 8. 10 am-6:30 pm, closed on Mondays.
