The family of Pierre Carron, late French painter, sculptor and a member of French Academy of Fine Arts, recently donated his seven paintings to the National Art Museum of China in Beijing. They are currently on show at a gallery at the museum, together with another five works that Carron previously donated, until April 8.
The paintings show Carron's commitment to depicting landscapes and young children, while playing or in a quiet, relaxing state, rendering the works a languid mood.
Jean Baptiste Astier de Villatte, Carron's son, attended the donation ceremony as the family representative. He said his father blended elements of different cultures, including Chinese culture, into his work, and he was impressed by the colors and forms he saw while previously visiting the country.
