Capital hosts art and crafts show by contemporary artists

The Seventh China Contemporary Art and Crafts Biennial has opened at Beijing's China Traditional Culture Museum to gather over 700 objects under dozens of categories of art and crafts by living artists. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

There are works carrying on handicraft traditions throughout centuries, such as lacquer painting, jade carving and wood furniture inlaid with ornaments. Also, there are emerging crafts to integrate old crafts with modern materials and designs to especially attract the younger generations.

The exhibition, jointly presented by China Traditional Culture Museum and Chinese National Academy of Arts, runs through to May.
