The robot mind merges with the beauty of the human body, highlighting Sorayama's aesthetic belief that, as he once stated, "To depict light, it is necessary to depict air; to depict air, it is necessary to depict transparency; the key is how to master the expression of reflection."

A 12-meter-tall aluminum robot installation by Sorayama is now on display outside the Nanzuka Art Institute in Shanghai, where the artist's exhibition Light, Reflection, Transparency is being held until June 15.

The exhibition surveys how Sorayama's creative approach has evolved since the 1970s. It showcases his endeavor to present luminosity from two-dimensional to three-dimensional through which viewers think about the limits of the human body and intellect, and the realization of eternal life via the development of artificial intelligence.
