Yanqiao village in Foshan, Guangdong province, is a serene village with a distinctive local style. Children fish by the lotus pond and adults enjoy chatting in front of centuries-old houses first built in the Ming Dynasty (1644-1911).
One of these buildings belonged to He Huangzhao, an early-20th-century businessman who contributed to his hometown's charity course. His 600-year-old ancestral house is used as an experimental ground for artists whose works investigate the relationship between man and his cultural roots.
