Chilly winds and snow are transforming the country's expansive northern part. While in the southern city, such as Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, plants are still green and flowers are in bloom.
The vibrant winter scenes in this coastal metropolis have echoed with what Wu Shuang presents at her ongoing exhibition in the city, at Guan Shanyue Art Museum.
Titled Flowers Bloom in Streets, the exhibition until Jan 5 shows the artist's love of nature and flowers, utilized by bright colors and loose strokes.
In her oil works, Wu shows the fluidity and sense of moisture of classical Chinese painting. While she paints with ink and water, she blends in with the rich color scheme of Western oil art.
Her most recent paintings on show include one abstract piece titled In Tribute to Shenzhen, in which she layers expanses of green and blue to symbolize the lively cityscape and its coastline.
