The theatrical production Hide and Seek by Hiu Kok Theatre, one of the most established theater groups in Macao, will be staged at Beijing's Cao Yu Theater from Oct 18 to 20 as part of the ongoing Beijing People's Art Theatre International Drama Invitation Exhibition.
The story follows a retired mother who leaves her home in Macao and moves abroad to live with her daughter. However, the daughter plans to take possession of her mother's money to solve her financial troubles. After the mother finds out about her daughter's plan, they start a game of "hide and seek".
Renowned Macao playwright and director Lawrence Lei I Leong, co-founder of the Hiu Kok Drama Association, wrote the script, which was inspired by a news story.
Established in Macao in 1975, the theater company is renowned for its avant-garde and thought-provoking productions, exploring a wide range of social and cultural themes.
