Musical Light and Shadow set to premiere in Beijing

The highly anticipated Chinese musical, Light and Shadow, is scheduled to debut in Beijing from June 7 to June 9, promising a captivating theatrical experience for audiences.

On Monday, the musical underwent a trial performance in Beijing, where eight original songs from the production were showcased.

Helmed by director Guo Zhen and featuring compositions by Liu Xuandou and lyrics by Liu Jing, Light and Shadow narrates the journey of two young men as they chase their musical aspirations, navigating the challenges of the entertainment industry while staying true to their love for music.

A talented ensemble comprising singers Tian Hongjie, Xu Ziwei, and Huang Weiming, among others, delivered a repertoire of over 30 songs during the musical, spanning genres from pop to rock, and from folk to hip-hop.

Following its Beijing run, the musical is slated to enchant audiences in various Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Nanjing, throughout the year, promising a musical odyssey that resonates with diverse audiences across the nation.
