One of the most sought after sopranos in global opera theater, Olga Peretyatko will present an opera gala with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on Friday.
Conducted by Zhang Jiemin, the Russian diva will present, in Shanghai, a hand-picked program of arias that reflect her recent and upcoming opera career highlights, including Norma, Les pecheurs de perles and Manon.
The concert marks the second time Peretyatko is performing in Shanghai, the last time being in 2016, when she sang at the New Year's Concert, conducted by Daniele Gatti.
This year's China tour has taken her to Guangzhou in Guangdong province on April 13, Shanghai on Apr 19 and the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing on Apr 21.
In Shanghai, Peretyatko introduced her latest album, Songs for Maya, dedicated to her daughter born in 2021. The album features 23 lullabies from all over the world, performed in 16 languages, including one from China.
Next year she will play the leading role at the NCPA production of Verdi's La Traviata.
