WARM RECEPTION

Cheng Xiaoxia, marketing and sales director at Marco Polo Wuhan, received Soren Link, mayor of Duisburg in Germany, during his four-day visit to Wuhan, Hubei province, starting from March 11. He was the first visiting mayor from an international friendly city to Wuhan this year.

GREEN DEMONSTRATION

With construction completed, the Boao near-zero carbon demonstration zone in Qionghai, Hainan province, has begun operation as the permanent venue of the Boao Forum for Asia. The zone covers 1.8 square kilometers and includes a conference center and two hotels, where a combined 20,200 square meters of solar photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roofs and facades, achieving an annual electricity generation of 3.5 million kilowatt-hours. The project was developed by China Railway Construction Corp.

IN-FLIGHT RESCUE

On a CZ346 flight operated by the Beijing branch of China Southern Airlines from Amsterdam to Beijing on March 9, an elderly passenger suddenly fell ill. The cabin crew immediately initiated emergency medical procedures and made every effort to help him recover. Due to their fast response, the 76-year-old began to improve when disembarking the aircraft. His wife praised the crew for their well-trained, professional capabilities and warm, meticulous service.
