The China National Traditional Orchestra embarked on a German tour from Feb 6 to 14, performing in Hamburg, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Dresden.
Conductors Liu Sha and Li Xincao took the audience on an exciting journey experiencing traditional Chinese music.
One of the highlights was the concert on Feb 10, the first day of Lunar New Year, featuring conductor Liu playing the famous Chinese music piece, The Spring Festival Overture, by Chinese composer Li Huanzhi. Thanks to the music piece's joyful and vibrant rhythm, it is one of the most frequently performed Chinese orchestral works.
On Feb 14, the orchestra performed a Chinese work for dizi and erhu, titled Qixi Festival — Encounter, on Valentine's Day. Qixi is known as Chinese Valentine's Day.
Besides Germany, the orchestra also performed in Poland with two concerts on Feb 11 and 12, celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Poland.
