Beijing association launches new efforts to promote theater production

Beijing Theater Association announced its plan for 2024, which will feature exhibitions of theatrical productions, forums, and workshops.

A yearlong program for awarding Chinese theater talents and Chinese theatrical productions will also be launched, with awards for categories including best scriptwriter, best director and best acting set to be announced by the end of 2024.

In 2020, the association founded an organization named New Art, aiming at gathering theater artists, experts, and scholars in the capital as well as promoting new theatrical productions.

On Jan 25, Yang Qianwu, a veteran theater critic, was appointed as the chairman of the organization, and Fu Ruoyan, a veteran theater producer, was named as the secretary-general of the organization.

Twenty-four representatives from the New Art organization have been appointed as committee members.
