Hungary gets taste of China's silken arts

Around 70 reproductions of ancient silk fabrics and contemporary garments from the collection of the China National Silk Museum went on display in Budapest on Oct 24.

The exhibition, hosted by the Zhejiang publicity department and the Zhejiang culture and tourism department, seeks to boost artistic and cultural exchange between China and Hungary, and to highlight the role of the Silk Road in cultural transmission.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: silk and the Silk Road, ancient silk patterns, and contemporary silk revitalization and use, and is designed to spread awareness of Chinese silk art.

A series of interactive handicraft projects deepen the visitor experience.

The China National Silk Museum also unveiled its Global Showcase project at the opening ceremony.

This will involve a series of exhibitions about silk culture and the Silk Road that can be displayed at museums, universities, cultural centers, and public spaces around the world.

Ji Xiaofen, director of the museum, said that efforts will be made to turn the Global Showcase into a platform for promoting cultural exchange and cooperation between China and the world.
