It is believed that people settled down in Longyou, a county in western Zhejiang province, as early as more than 3,000 years ago.
Surrounded by the diverse hilly landscapes and streams, locals have created rich cultures in the long agricultural time; the historic depth of the place and its serene cultural atmosphere have become a new draw for the urbanities.
A longing for such a slow-paced life has motivated Wu Qinfen, a native of Longyou, to mount Liquid Threads Art Festival now going on in her home county, through which she hopes to present the width and scope of Longyou's accumulations of history and how this history would be blended with the present.
