On Aug 22, the weeklong Dunhuang Cup competition for Chinese plucked instruments (the pipa, ruan and liuqin), ended with a concert in Pujiang county, Zhejiang province.

During the concert, which featured classic pieces like Rising Higher Step By Step by Lyu Wencheng and The Full Moon and Blooming Flowers by Peng Xiuwen, the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, conducted by Ge Ya'nan, performed with the winners of the competition.

Young students performed with the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra during the concert on Aug 22 in Pujiang county, Zhejiang province.

This year, over 3,000 competitors participated in the event, which was launched in 2010 by the China Musical Instrument Association, and one group of new talents stood out.

In addition to the competition itself, the Dunhuang Cup also featured concerts by five popular Chinese music ensembles this year, giving audiences in Pujiang county the opportunity to enjoy live music and participate in workshops.

A traditional Chinese music ensemble, the Yu Ensemble, performed during the concert on Aug 22.
