Chongqing, a major metropolis of southwest China, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Nestled in the southern part of the city lies Ciqikou Ancient Town, an embodiment of profound history and cultural brilliance.

Situated on the banks of the Jialing River, Ciqikou Ancient Town boasts a venerable history. During the early years of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it flourished as a bustling hub for porcelain production and trade, attracting merchants and explorers from far and wide. The name "Ciqikou," meaning "port of porcelain," originated from this porcelain industry that once thrived here.

In September 2022, Ciqikou Ancient Town received the distinction of being designated a national "Intangible Cultural Heritage Tourism Area." This accolade has enticed even more visitors to experience the captivating charm of the town.

Strolling through streets and narrow alleyways of Ciqikou Ancient Town feels like stepping back in time to an era of ancient grandeur. The town's distinctive ancient architecture, meandering alleys that beckon exploration, and remnants of ancient porcelain kilns all bear testament to its rich historical and cultural significance.

Located at No. 76 Hengjie Street in Ciqikou, Bao Lun Temple was constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It is one of the most revered Buddhist temples in Chongqing. Despite enduring numerous hardships throughout its existence, the main hall and the primary Buddha statue of Shakyamuni Buddha have been meticulously preserved.
