It is a typically common perception that lawyers are typically viewed as elite professionals who work in decent offices, handling high-profile and lucrative cases. However, The Ordinary Road, a new TV series, provides a more realistic portrayal of the struggles and challenges faced by those just starting out in the legal profession.

The series follows several young intern lawyers as they navigate their early years of practice, highlighting the stress and pressure that comes with the job.

Teaming up actor Guo Qilin and actress Jin Chen as the main characters, the TV series was released on CCTV-8 and the streaming site Tencent Video on May 3. The drama also shows Guo playing a young lawyer for the second time shortly after Jackie Chan's action comedy movie Ride On, which has grossed nearly 210 million yuan ($30.4 million) in the box office in April.

Over the course of its overall 36 episodes, the tale follows the protagonists' journeys as they handle complex cases, and ultimately come to a deeper understanding of the meaning of their work and life itself.

The drama has generated a lot of online resonance, with the hashtag "I see myself in The Ordinary Road" amassing around 3 million views on the popular social media platform Sina Weibo.

"Whether you are a newcomer who has just started your career or an experienced workplace veteran, you can see a little bit of yourself in this TV series," commented Zeng Yuli, a netizen on the review aggregator Douban, adding that the show has encouraged young viewers to approach workplace injustices and setbacks with a more positive attitude.
