A multi-sensory traveling exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the internationally renowned Dutch artist Van Gogh – called Van Gogh Alive – is coming to East China's Shanghai.

Organizers say it will present visitors with a digital art experience that combines immersive graphics and music, in an extravaganza running from April 29 to Sept 10, local media reported.

The exhibition, known as the most visited immersive experience in the world, has enchanted over 10 million people from 89 cities in 30 countries – including New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Tokyo and Beijing.

Shanghai is the 90th city to host an exhibition that has achieved a global influence and it will be shown in the World Expo Museum.

Vincent Van Gogh lived from 1853 to 1890. The audio-visual show will feature projections of nearly 3,000 of Van Gogh's works, manuscripts and letters.

It explores the work and life experiences of this prolific artist and interprets his thoughts, feelings and state of mind during his time in Paris and in the earlier years in Arles and Saint Rémy, where he created many of his timeless masterpieces.

Early-bird tickets to the Shanghai event, totaling 20,000, are currently on sale.
