The 2022 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Design Award, an international event which has drawn nearly 1,000 artistic works from the six Lancang-Mekong countries, announced the winners on Jan 3.
Artist Wang Yinzhe’s bamboo-weaving work, Echo, took home the Jury Prize, the top honor of the award.
While first prize went to He Xinyue’s poster work, Originality Lancang Mekong - Weaving the Future, and Yang Yuan’s bamboo-weaving work Cu (cluster), the second prizes were earned by Thailand artist Piyanoot Saiyakit’s Golden Light of Carp and another nine artistic works.
The event consisted of two competitive sectors, respectively about poster design and artistic works woven by bamboos and rattans.
Backed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event is jointly hosted by China Center for International Communication Development and multiple institutions, such as Central Academy of Fine Arts, Bangkok University in Thailand, National University of Laos and Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
