Hebei’s Gaoyang to hold textile intangible cultural heritage conference

The sixth China Textile Intangible Cultural Heritage Conference will be held in Gaoyang county, Baoding city, Hebei province, from Dec 26 to 28, it was announced at the launch ceremony on Dec 11.

The event, whose theme will be "building an ecosphere for the textile intangible heritage in urban and rural areas", is co-organized by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, Industry and Information Technology Department of Hebei province, Baoding Municipal People's Government, and jointly hosted by Intangible Cultural Heritage Office of CNTAC and Gaoyang County People's Government.

As the representative of the organizer of the conference, Chen Weikang, deputy secretary of the CNTAC, said at the launch ceremony that in recent years, CNTAC has made certain achievements in mapping the intangible cultural heritage resources of the textile industry, strengthening the organization, building a dissemination platform, training the inheritors, integrating design and branding, helping poverty alleviation and rural vitalization, and promoting the industrialization and marketization of intangible cultural heritage of textile field.

Fu Jianbin, the director of bureau of industry and information technology of Baoding, said Gaoyang, as a 1,000-year-old county with a history of more than 400 years in the textile industry, is the perfect place to hold the conference.
