Zhentang Town is located in the southwest of Dingjie county, Xigaze City, Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, and on the southern slope of the middle section of the Himalayas. With an average altitude of about 2,000 meters, it is the main settlement area of the Sherpa people.
In recent years, Zhentang Town has undergone significant changes. The Zhentang Highway, invested by the state, has been opened to traffic. While a large number of infrastructures have been put into use, Zhentang Town also considers border trade, aquaculture, tourism, processing industry and other characteristic and advantageous industries as their main focuses of development, helping the growing number of farmers and herdsmen to increase their income. In 2020, the per capita disposable income of farmers and herdsmen will reach 10,679.4 yuan ($1,676.6).
