Beijing Huachen Auctions will present two evenings of sales of modern and contemporary Chinese art on Dec 7, offering works by notable artists and in collaboration with established galleries. The event celebrates the auction house's 20th anniversary as it spotlights the development of Chinese art and galleries over the past three decades.

Up for sale are works by prominent 20th-century artists such as Chang Yu, Wu Guanzhong and Chen Yifei. Green Wall: Two Single Beds, painted by Zhang Xiaogang in 2008 from his Green Wall series, is included in the collection.  The oil on canvas depicts a bedroom scene several decades back. The wall is painted green with a height of 1.2 meters from the ground, the beds are covered with sheets patterned with red and white grids, and the room has a simple decoration.

The painting demonstrates the distinct style of Zhang drawing from his childhood experiences. It has touches of nostalgia and sadness from fading memories.

Another work that deserves attention is Autumn Mountain by Yin Zhaoyang in 2021. The oil painting shows Yin's studies of the diagram of the classical Chinese paintings through which he reinterprets the relationship between men and nature.
