A biennial event aiming to boost the industrialization of China's films and TV programs will be held in Southwest China's Chongqing, organizers revealed on Friday.

Known as the China (Baisha) Movie and TV Industrial Movie Week, the event is the first of its kind to raise recognition for those working behind the scenes, such as prop makers, visual effects artists, and cinematographers.

A-list actor-director Xu Zheng, best known for the Lost in… blockbuster franchise, will again serve as ambassador for the event, which was inaugurated in November 2019.

Xu said film crews who are dedicated to their work behind the scenes should not be forgotten, and their efforts should be recognized and awarded.

The first edition presented 17 prizes to honor top talents in six sectors, from art direction to cinematography and scoring.

Over the past two years, the event has propelled the film and TV industry's development in the Jiangjin district of Chongqing, where the event was hosted. More than 30 film and TV production companies were launched in the district, with over 10 programs signed to be produced or shot there.

The upcoming second event is scheduled to be held between late October and early November. One of the top highlights is a themed forum to discuss the domestic film and TV industry's new development in the internet era, which will be held on Oct 31.
