Lin Songtian (center), president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Chinese calligraphers launch the China, Japan and South Korea online calligraphy exhibition in Beijing on Tuesday.

Bringing together calligraphers and officials from China, Japan and South Korea, an online calligraphy exhibition was launched in Beijing on Tuesday.

With the theme of cherishing peace and carrying forward the Olympic spirit, the exhibition was co-organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China National Academy of Painting, Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association, Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Council and Seoul Arts Center.

The event uses culture and calligraphy as an opportunity to deliver a consensus on cherishing friendship and peace and to offer good wishes to the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, said Lin Songtian, president of CPAFFC.

“As close neighbors, China, Japan and South Korea are major countries in Asia,” Lin said.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic ties and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and South Korea, Lin noted.

“The relationship among the three sides will usher in new development opportunities,” he said.

He called on people of the three countries to join hands and contribute to world peace, stability and prosperity.
