The 2021 "Focus on Zhejiang" International Cultural Exchange Activities event was launched in Wenzhou city of East China's Zhejiang province on Saturday.
The event's year-round plan was released, which will provide rich cultural and travelling experience for foreigners. Sinologists and "Envoys of Picturesque Zhejiang" will explore "poetry roads", visit ancient villages in Zhejiang and experience digital reform achievements in the province.
At the launch ceremony, Serbian soprano Milena Damjanovic performed with Matija, a dance teacher from the Republic of North Macedonia, to interpret a classical poem by ancient Chinese poet Jiang Kui. In addition, the 91-year-old Syrian poet Adonis, who has visited Zhejiang many times, delivered a speech via video at the ceremony.
An experience group comprised of "Envoys of Picturesque Zhejiang" and internet celebrities received a flag at the ceremony, which marked the start of their upcoming journey, Admiring the Fascinating Scenery along the Oujiang River Poetry Road. They will visit towns and scenic spots along the route, as well as experience moveable-type printing.
The logo of the "Focus on Zhejiang" event was unveiled at the launch ceremony, which uses five colors to represent the five continents and symbolizes Zhejiang welcomes global visitors in an open and inclusive way.
Xu Peng, deputy director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Chen Jiangfeng, deputy head of Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, attended the launch ceremony, along with experts in the cultural field.
During the last year, the culture and tourism departemnt has hosted a series of activities online and offline to improve the province's cultural exchanges with the world.
