A Chinese opera, titled Yimengshan Mountain, performed by Shandong Song and Dance Theater, was staged at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing on April 20.

The opera opened a series of live performances and online shows launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

From April to July, about 140 theatrical productions, ranging from Peking Opera, Kunqu Opera to plays, dance dramas and classical music concerts, will be provided to audiences.

Among the 140 productions, over 50 will be staged live in Beijing, such as the Peking Opera production Li Dazhao. Mounted by the Jingju Theater Company of Beijing, the opera tells the story of Li Dazhao (1889-1927), a founding member of the Communist Party of China. The award-winning dance production The Eternal Wave, which tells a revolutionary story of a CPC intelligence mission on the eve of Shanghai's liberation in 1949, will also be performed.
