Japanese animation film Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet continued leading the Chinese mainland box office on its third day of release on Monday, with daily earnings reaching 9.19 million yuan (around $1.4 million), data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Tuesday.
As the 24th cinematic installment in the Detective Conan animation franchise, the film's plot revolves around the protagonist's investigation into a series of kidnapping incidents involving the opening ceremony of the World Sports Games in Tokyo and the launch of a cutting-edge bullet train in line with the event.
Chinese heart-warming film Sister ranked second, generating more than 7 million yuan in box office revenue on Monday.
It was followed by the re-released US fantasy film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which raked in close to 5 million yuan on Monday.
