Choral concerts to mark CPC centenary with songs

Concerts will be held across the country featuring choruses and soloists from March to October this year, marking the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, as announced by China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd (CAEG) on March 26.

An opening ceremony was held at Tianqiao Performing Arts Center in Beijing on March 26 with a children's choir from Beijing No 171 High School and the chorus of the China National Symphony Orchestra performing popular Chinese songs, including Sing a Song for the Party written by Yao Xiaozhou and Zhu Jian'er, and Pearl of the Orient written by singer-songwriter Lo Ta-yu.

According to the event organizer, the touring concerts will be held at 10 Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai as well as Zunyi, Southwest China's Guizhou province, and Xibaipo, Hebei province. Besides live concerts, online programs will also be held, aiming to review the history of the CPC and pay tribute to martyrs.
