China has already become one of the most developed countries in internet applications, Yang said.

"The rapid development of the internet makes more people around the world know about the profound culture and history of China and at the same time brings the colorful world to the Chinese," the official said.

"We should enhance communications with different countries, nations and civilizations, and learning from each other, so as to lay the humanistic foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind," said Li Qun, vice minister of China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Li added that he hopes more people could get to know China and the Chinese culture by participating in the online campaign.

The campaign will also cooperate with China Culture Centers in several countries.
