2nd China-ROK Cultural Industry Forum held in Beijing

Ding spoke highly of the important role the China-ROK Cultural Industry Forum has played in developing friendly and co-operative relations between cultural enterprises and enhancing the industry’s international competitiveness of the two countries. He hoped that companies in the field of both countries will continue to promote common prosperity and development of cultural industry in the principle of mutual benefit.

Kim Tae-hoon, the first vice minister at Culture, Sports and Tourism of Republic of Korea, said at the opening ceremony that China has replaced America as the biggest trade partner of South Korea. For closer bilateral relations, the two countries must pay more attention to cultural cooperation in addition to partnership in the political, economic, security areas.

Two Cultural Industry Cooperation Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) were signed under the witness of Ding Wei and Kim Tae-hoon.

Ding Wei and Kim Tae-hoon also held talks on the same day to discuss the establishment of international cooperation funds and its management.

China and South Korea intend to raise 570 million yuan respectively to establish an international fund next year. Film productions produced through the fund will be seen as co-produced works of China and ROK, which can enter the market of Chinese mainland freely without restrictions of import quotas. At the same time, China can learn the operation experience of fund from ROK.

The China-ROK Cultural Industry Forum is hosted in turn by Chinese Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Culture, and Sports and Tourism of Republic of Korea. The first session was held in Seoul, ROK in Nov, 2013.
