Beijing achieves fruitful cultural exchanges

Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture held a press conference on Sept 28. The deputy director of the bureau and spokesperson, Guan Yu, announced fruitful foreign cultural exchanges, development of public cultural services and progress of cultural restructuring.

In foreign cultural exchanges field, 183 projects involving 4,330 people were accepted, among which 140 projects involving 2,979 people attended exchange programs in Hong Kong Special Administration Region (SAR), Macao SAR, Taiwan province and other foreign countries and the rest 1,351 came to China in 43 cultural exchange activities.

China's Happy New Year activities have been held in more than 30 countries for 13 consecutive years. By conducting cultural exchange activities in Copenhagen, Seoul, Bangkok and other cities, Beijing provided opportunities to local residents to know more about Chinese culture. A series of cultural brand and companies with international influence were established to promote cultural trade. The trade of cultural industry in 2013 totaled $3.53 billion, an increase of 15.7 percent compared to a year ago. Export-import worth $900 million took place of key cultural products, and key cultural service worth $2.62 billion. There are 60 enterprises and 37 projects listed as the national key enterprises/projects on cultural trade (2013-2014).
