Gateway to scenic splendor

During this year's Spring Festival holiday, the natural beauty of Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie city captivated Danish tourist Kasper Ankersoe Maersk, who had learned about Chinese New Year and Chinese cuisine on social media. Maersk said that the natural scenery of Zhangjiajie is extremely beautiful and the people there are very kind and hospitable.

This is a snapshot of the tourism boom in Central China's Hunan province during the Spring Festival holiday in February. Core tourist attractions such as Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie and the Fenghuang ancient town in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao autonomous prefecture were particularly popular, attracting many foreign tourists.

This grand cultural and tourism event for Chinese New Year did not happen by chance. As part of its ambition to become a world-class tourism destination, Hunan has launched the Greater Zhangjiajie International Tourism Area, strengthened inbound tourism initiatives and upgraded major attractions.

In January, the action plan for the construction of the Greater Zhangjiajie International Tourism Area was approved. The government work report from the two sessions of Hunan also laid out clear plans, expediting the high-quality development of Hunan's cultural and tourism sectors, local experts said.
