Empty beaches, waves, trees gently blown by the wind, sunset and clouds, the seaside views depicted in Xiang Nan's oils are like an ideal destination for a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
However behind the serene scenes, Xiang engages his audience in a discussion about the real and the unreal.
Favoring Winds and the Promised Land, a one-man exhibition at the Tang Contemporary Art space in Beijing's 798 Art Zone, includes a dozen paintings that demonstrate how hard the painter has attempted to magnify the energy of painting.
The exhibition is curated by Wang Shiying, and will end on April 15.
