The resurgence of the vintage mamianqun, or horse-face skirt, has been observed among lovers of the hanfu attire who wear it in the traditional way or with a modern top.
To address the trend, the Tsinghua University Art Museum will hold a yearlong exhibition, to open in March and continue till March 2026, to introduce the transformation of the style from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) through adaptations in the modern fashion industry by home designers.
The exhibition is one of the highlights of the museum's diverse calendar of the year.
