'The Spectacle of Tea' exhibition opens at Zhejiang Provincial Museum

The Palace Museum's "Tea World" cultural relics exhibition, titled The Spectacle of Tea,is now on display in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. Hosted at the Zhejiang Provincial Museum, the exhibition offers a captivating experience for tea enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs alike.

Co-organized by the Palace Museum and the Zhejiang Provincial Museum, this event is part of the "Celebrating New Year in the Museum" initiative and marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Palace Museum in 2025.

The exhibition, running from January 10 to April 6, 2025, explores the peak periods of Chinese tea culture during the Song and Qing dynasties. The exhibition not only highlights the unique customs and spirit of tea-drinking in these two golden ages but also delves into the artistic achievements and cultural sophistication of the Song and Qing eras.

Featuring 114 sets of rare artifacts from the Palace Museum's collection, including authentic paintings, calligraphy, imperial treasures, court tribute teas, and ancient books, this exhibition provides an immersive experience that blends the ancient with the modern. By weaving a narrative of artifacts from both the Song and Qing dynasties, it offers a rich, multi-layered insight into the profound history and timeless appeal of Chinese tea culture.
