Dong personally tutored two senior members of the "Four Wangs" — Wang Shimin and Wang Jian.

The works of the "Four Wangs" have been favorites at art shows and auctions. For example, the landscape paintings by Wang Shimin and Wang Jian appear at the Beijing Yongle International Auction from Dec 9 to 11 in Beijing.
