As part of the Beijing International Design Week, where France will be honored as the "Guest of Honor" nation, the Craft Innovation Expo (Revelations China) is set to make its debut in China. From September 19 to 23, 2024, the event will present works by several renowned French artisans.
The French Embassy in China, in collaboration with the French Institute, is highlighting the talents of three internationally acclaimed female French artisans: Juliette Clovis, Ludivine Lécussan, and Diane Colonges with her Studio Mérigot Sanzay brand. Each artist specializes in a unique craft—ceramics, glasswork, metalworking, and tapestry-making.
These artisans breathe life into bold contemporary designs, seamlessly blending tradition with innovation, technique with material. Their creations showcase a unique interplay between creativity and skill.
French craftsmanship, as a continuously evolving cultural heritage, maintains a vibrant dialogue with other fields of contemporary creation through its exceptional artistry and ingenuity. This exhibition is part of the French Embassy's "Craftsmanship" project, designed to foster collaboration between France and China—two nations with deep-rooted traditions and expertise in this field. Supported by the French Institute, the exhibition is also part of the internationalization strategy for cultural and creative industries, with Romain Juilha as its curator.
