Film festival celebrates art of dance

Dance in Images, a festival of films at the Institute of France in Beijing that opened on Thursday and will run to Saturday, will feature more than 20 dance films.

"When film becomes a media for dance, the shadow and light, the moving lenses make the dance performance more fluid and touching,'' said Liu Chun, choreographer and curator of the annual festival initiated by the French Embassy in Beijing.

"Audiences listen to the stories through the dancers' body, movement and the lens." The festival presents videos archived by the France Center of National Dance and Chinese choreographers and dance' performances.
