The trilogy play, lasting some 300 minutes in total, depicts a typical Beijing girl who is carefree, straightforward and bit naughty growing up in the open, congested hutong courtyards, and a childhood of simplicity, hardly any pressure from school, much time to play. The production was premiered in late July, followed by a forum attended by prominent playwrights and figures in the youth and art education.
The staging will continue through to Sept 10, not only to bring adults nostalgic feelings but also, to inspire both parents and young audiences to envision a childhood happier.
