An ongoing exhibition at the Bund 18 Jiushi Art Gallery in Shanghai is featuring traditional Chinese art media and materials in a contemporary context. On show are creations made with materials like jade, lacquer, ceramic and metals.
Sponsored by the China National Arts Fund and organized by the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the exhibition opened in Beijing on Apr 8.
The Shanghai stop of the tour, which started on June 4 and will run until July 20, features more than 50 works by 32 artists.
Divided into four chapters, the exhibition presents a dialogue between traditional forms and contemporary ideas, and the contrast between abstract expressions and traditional creative approach to inspire more diverse discussions about art.
