Mentougou rolls out winter carnival

Western Beijing’s Mentougou district launched their winter carnival on Jan 9.

The event was guided by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and hosted by the Mentougou culture and tourism bureau, and the district’s Wangping town government.

Winter themed celebrations and travel routes have been planned to cover the Mentougou’s distinctive scenic spots, homestays and restaurants, so visitors can better appreciate what the district has to offer.

Mentougou abounds in cultural and tourism resources, and there is a big space for the development of winter tourism, says Yu Huafeng, head of the district.

The winter carnival aims to enrich local winter tourism experiences and promote industrialization, differentiation and branding of tourism in Mentougou, according to Yu.
